Informativa privacy di Shard

Ultimo aggiornamento: 10 ottobre 2026

Chi è il titolare

[Nome e cognome, oppure ragione sociale], [indirizzo], [codice fiscale o partita IVA].

Badge e cloak (servizio Shard)

Chi riceve i dati

I tuoi diritti

Shard privacy notice

Last updated: 10 October 2026

Who is responsible

[Full name, or company name], [address], [tax code or VAT number]. Privacy contact: [email address].

What this covers

The client.shard.rip website, the Shard.exe setup and the Shard client: installing, updates, the device id and the Shard service for badges and cloaks. Shard's voice chat has a notice of its own, which the game shows you before you turn it on.

The website

The site uses no cookies, shows no ads and runs no analytics. Fonts and images come from our own server. The language you pick, and whether you have seen the opening animation, stay in your browser (localStorage) and are never sent to us.

Server logs

When you open a page, download the setup or Shard checks for an update, the server records the IP address, date and time, file requested, response, user agent and referrer. They keep the service running, protect it from abuse and help us understand why a download failed. We keep them for [90] days.

Updates

The setup and the client download new versions of Shard from our server and check their signature. To do that they send the installed version and the update channel.

Device id (deviceId)

Shard sends us its deviceId: an id generated by Shard, a salted hash derived from the Windows machine id, your Shard install's own id and your physical network cards. It only means something inside Shard: the original values never leave your computer, and the hash cannot be turned back into them. It is not sensitive data.

By accepting the terms of use you let us use it to identify your device and to decide which version of Shard it receives. We keep it for 180 days after you last join the shard.rip servers.

Badges and cloaks (Shard service)

While you play, Shard connects to the Shard service to show the Shard badge and cloaks between Shard users, also outside the shard.rip servers.

  • What it sends: your Minecraft UUID, verified by Mojang, and the UUIDs of the players around you. Never positions, servers or history.
  • Account check: the service asks Mojang (Microsoft) whether your client has just signed in, as any online Minecraft server does. It never sees a password or a token.
  • What we keep: your UUID, the last name you used, the cloaks you own and the one you wear, until they are taken away. The list of players around you stays in memory only.
  • How to turn it off: in the Shard menu. From then on others no longer see your badge and cloak outside the shard.rip servers.

Legal basis

For the deviceId, the terms of use you accept (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)). For the rest, our legitimate interest in running Shard, keeping it up to date and protecting the network (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)): you can object at any time, and for badges and cloaks you just turn the service off in the Shard menu.

Who receives the data

  • The provider that hosts our servers, [provider name], in [country], as data processor (GDPR art. 28).
  • Mojang (Microsoft), only for the account check described above.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it or to defend a legal claim.

We do not sell the data or pass it to anyone else. The links to Discord and VirusTotal lead to sites with their own privacy notices.

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction and objection (GDPR articles 15 to 22) by writing to [email address]: we reply within a month. You can also complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or to the authority of the country where you live.

Changes

If we change this notice we update the date at the top and, if the changes matter, we say so on our Discord.
